Ken Edwards

Kenneth R. Edwards, 62, passed away at Providence Medical Center on May 27, 2006. Ken was born and raised in Butte, Mont. He was an outstanding basketball player in high school and went on to play at UNLV where he received his B.A. in 1967.

Ken then became a college coach and was the head coach at Portland State and West Texas State where, in 1980, he was honored as the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame Coach of the year.

In 1984, Ken retired from coaching and settled in Shady Cove where he operated a saloon, laundromat, and car wash for 20 years.

Ken is survived by his sons, David, and Greg; daughter, Julie; and five grandchildren of the Portland, Ore. area and his brother, Bill Edwards of St. Regis, Mont.

At his request, Ken's body has been cremated and his ashes will be spread along the Big Hole River in Montana.
