RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — Two Medford teenagers broke world records at the World Association Bench Press Dead Lift National Championships July 29.
Dylan Sites of Medford won his boys 12-13, 114-pound division with a state record in the bench press (148.7 pounds) and a world record in the dead lift (259 pounds).
In the same age division but in the 132-pound weight class, Jimmy Ditty of Medford set a world record with a 156.4-pound bench press. He won his bracket in the dead lift with a hoist of 292 pounds and was named "Best Lifter" in the 12-17-year-old bracket.
At 148 pounds for boys 12-13, Joey Everett of Medford won his bracket in the dead lift with a mark of 286.5 pounds.
In the 165-pound class, Ryan Mahoney of Medford set an Oregon record in the boys 14-15 age class with a 278-pound bench press.
All four lifters are members of Team Pecktol, coached by Medford resident Sam Pecktol.
There were more than 200 contestants from 10 states at the championships. State and world qualifiers advance to the world championships in Anaheim, Calif., Nov. 15-20.

PHOENIX — A Phoenix football camp for kids in grades three through nine is Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon at Jack Woodward Stadium.
The cost for the non-contact camp is $30 for all except ninth-graders, who were in a previous camp.
