Low-income parents in Medford, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Central Point, White City and Eagle Point hoping to get a little help with Christmas gifts for their children from the Toys for Tots program must first pre-register.
This is a change from previous years, organizers said. The deadline for preregistration is Dec. 12. It does not apply to parents in Ashland, Talent, Grants Pass or Rogue River, who may register and pick up toys on the same day.
Residents in Medford, Phoenix and Jacksonville may preregister at the West Medford Self Sufficiency Office, 914 W. Main St. or the Medford Self Sufficiency Office, 800 Cardley Ave.
Residents in Central Point, White City, Eagle Point and surrounding areas may preregister at the Rogue Family Center, 3131 Avenue C, White City.
Toy pick-up days for residents in the above areas are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 at the Santo Community Center, 701 N. Columbus Ave., Medford.
Parents in the Ashland-Talent areas may register and pick up toys on the same day, from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 15 at First Baptist Church of Ashland, 2004 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.
Parents in Grants Pass and Rogue River also may register and pick up toys on the same day, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at Young Marine Headquarters, 345 Merlin/Galice Highway, Merlin (formerly the old Merlin School).
Only adults are allowed to choose toys. No children will be allowed at the distribution centers.
Parents must bring picture identification and proof that they qualify as low-income, such as an Oregon Trail Card, Oregon Health Plan card or WIC card.
