Grants Pass routs Eagle Point in season opener

GRANTS PASS — With the exception of Austin Rowley, who scored a game-high 19 for Eagle Point, the Grants Pass boys basketball team was in full control of the Class 5A Eagles in their endowment game on Monday night.

Buddy Saxon scored 16 points and Dee Wiersma added 15 to lead the Cavemen to a 77-37 victory over Eagle Point at Grants Pass High School.

Grants Pass outscored Eagle Point 26-12 in the second quarter to build a 43-18 lead at the break.

The Cavemen (1-0) hit five 3-pointers to Eagle Point's one.

Rowley had a game-high 19 points for the Eagles (0-1), who received 12 from David Brasel.
