Mustangs open tournament with win
YREKA, Calif. — The Hidden Valley boys basketball team used a big first quarter to help defeat Lassen (Calif.) 47-37 in the opening game of the eight-team Yreka Tournament on Thursday at Yreka High School.
Saxon Gotfried and Trevor Porter had 10 points each to lead the Mustangs (1-1). Porter also added six rebounds and seven steals.
Kaylan Maynard had six points and nine rebounds and Hidden Valley jumped out to a 16-6 lead after the first quarter.
Lassen's Loren Rainey led all scorers with 13 points.
