Obama's talk: war, environment, Oregon's importance

Presidential candidate Barack Obama delivered an almost hour-long speech at Kids Unlimited in Medford this morning before spending almost another hour responding to questions from the audience.

The Illinois senator denounced the war in Iraq and promised to bring all the troops home in 16 months, while pointing out the U.S. has spent more time in this conflict that in World War I, World War II or the Civil War.

Obama spoke about local environmental issues, vowing to undo many of the policies of the Bush administration.

He referred to the close race for the Democratic nomination with Sen. Hillary Clinton and said every delegate counts as Oregon gears up for its May 20 primary.

"Oregon usually comes too late to count but not this time," he said.
