• Garlic Sauteed Arame and Carrots

  • 1/2 (1.76-ounce) package dried arame
    1 teaspoon sesame oil
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 carrot, cut into matchsticks
    1 tablespoon mirin
    1 teaspoon tamari
    Break up the arame into pieces. Soak arame in enough water to cover for 5 to 10 minutes; drain.
    Heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add rehydrated arame, the garlic and carrots. Stir occasionally for 5 minutes.
    Add 1/2 cup water to pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
    Add the mirin and tamari and cook for 5 more minutes. Serve warm.
    Makes 4 servings.
