Medford and Central Point police teamed up to target the local sex trade, arresting three men suspected of soliciting prostitution and four women suspected of working as prostitutes this week.
The police departments each had uncovered information online and from informants that led them to suspect prostitution was happening, Medford police Lt. Tim Doney said.
Last year, Medford police targeted johns with a fake Craigslist escort service ad, a technique used successfully elsewhere. News reports show that police across the country regularly monitor and use the online classified ad site to target prostitution.
Using information passed online and through local escort services, Medford and Central Point detectives conducted stings at an undisclosed local motel Tuesday and Wednesday.
Cited and released on prostitution charges linked with soliciting were Rickie Lee Davis, 52, of Chico, Calif.; Jason Dale Campbell, 37, of the 2900 block Agate Meadow Circle, White City; and Bryan Michael Hawkins, 29, of the 3600 block of Antelope Road, White City.

Prostitution charges, which cover both the selling and buying of sexual acts, are misdemeanors.
