  • The owner of a Medford adult book store was arrested Thursday for allegedly possessing child pornography, police said.
Robert Homer Wedel, 61, faces 10 felony counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse after police reportedly found the images on a computer at Romantasy, his adult-related business at 3340 N. Pacific Highway in Medford.
Police searched the business on March 3 and seized several pieces of digital evidence including Wedel's computer, Central Point police Sgt. Josh Moulin said in a news release. Moulin is the commander of the Jackson County High Tech Crimes Task Force, which works out of the Central Point Police Department.
Wedel was taken Thursday to Central Point police, where he was cited and released on his own recognizance, police said.
Moulin was not available for comment late Friday. Attempts to reach Wedel were not successful.
The High Tech Crimes Task Force has made it its priority to investigate online sexual predators, including those who trade in child pornography.
Wedel has no criminal history, according to Jackson County Circuit Court records.
