  • A benefit to help two Illinois Valley victims of an Aug. 5 helicopter crash has been set for Saturday at Lake Selmac.
Proceeds from Fun in the Sun will go to helicopter pilot Bill Coultas, who was injured when the helicopter crashed, and the family of Steven "Caleb" Renno, who died in the crash along with six other Southern Oregon wildland firefighters.
The Boy Scout area at Lake Selmac will feature music, food, and fun activities for youngsters. Admission is by donation, and the suggested donation is $10 per person. Children age 13 and under will be admitted at no charge.
Attendees can bring lawn chairs or a blanket. They can pack a picnic or enjoy beverages and grilled hot dogs from Taylor's Sausage at the site with proceeds going to the benefit. Music will be provided by MacKenzie Yeoman, Lou Levison, Southern Oregon Blues Band, Jefferson, cowboy poet Butch Martin, Two Foot Daddy and Groove De Ville.
