GRANTS PASS — Ashland opened the season with a 5-3 victory on the road against Grants Pass with a flurry of second-half goals.
The Grizzlies had five different players score. Adam Pavlich opened with a goal in the second minute, which tied the game, and Ashland claimed the lead when Ian Murray ran on to a header from Mattias Fitzpatrick for a goal just 30 seconds into the second half.
After Grants Pass tied it, Kai Caderett-Stewart put Ashland back in front with an unassisted goal in the 55th minute, setting off a three-goal run for the Grizzlies in a 10-minute span. Nate Roupp added an unassisted goal and Dakota Wolff scored on an assist from Reed Chasmar.
Ashland outshot Grants Pass 24-16. The Cavemen led 1-0 on a goal by Mickey Allapach in the eighth minute. Allapach headed in a direct kick from Jordan Van Delden. Grants Pass (0-2) tied the game 2-2 with a goal from Profirio Cruz in the 50th minute and Cruz assisted Eddie Mendoza, who drilled a shot from 30 yards out, in the 70th minute to cap the scoring.
EAGLE POINT 2, MARSHFIELD 2 — At Eagle Point, Marshfield built a 2-0 lead but Eagle Point salvaged the tie, including a goal from Tyler VanDyke with one minute remaining.
VanDyke dribbled through defenders at the top of the box and put the ball past the goalie on the left side for the tying score.
Marshfield opened the scoring in the 27th minute on Brian Melgar's penalty kick following a foul at the top of the box. Melgar later took advantage of a miscommunication by Eagle Point's goalie and sweeper for another goal in the 55th minute.
Eagle Point (1-0-1) cut the deficit two minutes later when Andres Tavarez volleyed in a free kick cross. Eagle Point goalie Hernan Torres kept the Eagles within striking distance by making a save on a one-on-one opportunity for Marshfield before VanDyke tied it.

GRANTS PASS 3, ASHLAND 1 — At Ashland, Grants Pass scored twice on free kicks in the second half to pull out the victory in a close game.
Stephanie Pepperling scored for Grants Pass (2-0-0 SWC) in the 37th minute on an assist from Jessica Bath to tie the score at 1-all going into halftime. Caffie DeRocher then converted Grants Pass' first free kick of the game to take a 2-1 lead. DeRocher would score again on the second free kick in the 80th minute to seal the victory.
Chloe Deckwar scored in the first minute for Ashland's only goal.
CRATER 1, HENLEY 1 — At Central Point, Crater dominated field position in the second half, but Henley managed to score in the 68th minute and salvage a draw in the nonconference match.
Crater's Taylor McGee netted a goal in the 55th minute from 24 yards out on a one-touch pass from freshman forward Erika Williams.
Goal keeper Katie Orr notched eight saves for the Comets (0-1-1).
EAGLE POINT 4, ROGUE RIVER 3 — At Eagle Point, with one minute remaining in regulation, Eagle Point's Kaylee Tuttle booted in the game-winning goal and defeated Rogue River in a nonconference affair.
The goal came in the 79th minute off a corner kick from Erica Rasor. Rasor also scored two unassisted goals for the Eagles (1-0-1), which came in the 23rd and 70th minutes.
The Eagles had a 2-0 advantage at the intermission, but Dannie Hansen notched two straight goals for the Chieftains to tie the match 2-all.
After Rasor's second goal made it 3-2 Eagles, Rogue River's Alyssa Evans scored in the 75th minute to even the game again.
KLAMATH UNION 2, PHOENIX 1 — At Klamath Falls, Phoenix controlled most of the action but Klamath Union walked away with the victory. The young Phoenix team, which lost nine senior starters from last season, had 12 shots on goal, many coming on unsuccessful breakaway opportunities. Klamath Union had just four shots on goal.
Klamath Union scored in the 20th minute on an Elizabeth Albertson goal from 18 yards out. Phoenix's Carlee Storey knotted the score after taking a through ball in the 50th minute.
But the Pelicans pulled ahead when Albertson stole the ball from Phoenix's sweeper and scored with two minutes remaining.
ST. MARY'S 2, COTTAGE GROVE 1 — At Cottage Grove, St. Mary's (2-0) claimed the closely contested, physical match with a pair of first-half goals by Sarah Seus and Mackenzie Krieser and solid defensive play, led by goalkeeper Gina Barbieri.
Seus scored an unassisted goal in the 20th minute following a corner kick and Krieser drilled a penalty kick in the 39th minute. Cottage Grove avoided the shutout with a direct-kick goal by Reed Levings from 20 yards out in the 75th minute.
