  • David Earl Heighton
    David Earl Heighton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died November 23, 2008, at home after a long battle with COPD. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
    David was born on July 31,1926 in Wayland, Ohio to Mary Bessie Fox and Marius Herbert Heighton. He was the youngest of five boys.
    He served as a Marine during World War II. He began his career as a teller for Bank of America, and then as a gas station proprietor. He worked for Texaco for 31 years, and then for Suburban Propane for 20 years.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; his first wife, Pauline Cook; two children; and five grandchildren.
    David leaves behind his beloved wife of 27 years, Faye Heighton; his brother, Harold Heighton, of Fla.; and David's 11 children, Dorothy (Dolly) Geist of Medford; David P. Heighton, of Utah, Stephen E. Ray of Va., Victoria Firth and Valerie Cullison of Utah, James A. Heighton of Wash., Karen Bush and Kathryn Morales of Medford, Karlene Robins of Wash., Kristina Korth of Ill., and Patricia Rangel, of Calif. He also leaves 47 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren with another 2 on the way.
    A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, from 3-7 p.m. at Conger Morris Mortuary in Medford. A viewing and funeral service will be held Friday, November 28, 2008 at 9 a.m. at the LDS 8th Ward building, 2900 Juanipero Way, Medford, and a brief lunch will be served after; then the grave dedication will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Eagle Point at 1:30 p.m.
