Summer job pays off big for Kendall
If ever there was an A-plus paper set to be written, it would have to be Ian Kendall's version of the ever popular "What I did over the summer"...
St. Mary's junior post/forward Veronica Valdez has been named to the Class 2A girls basketball all-state second team in voting by coaches.
The 5-foot-6 Valdez led the Crusaders to third place in the state tournament and was named player of the year in the Southern Cascade League.
Despite being smaller than many opposing post players, Valdez averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds.
Santiam had the player and coach of the year, respectively, in Heidi Halemeier and Joy Lease.
