EAGLE POINT — Ian Kendall stymied Eagle Point on two hits and contributed an RBI single in a five-run fourth inning as Ashland defeated Eagle Point 12-1 in five innings in Southern Sky Conference baseball Tuesday.
Kendall mixed his pitches well and kept the ball down, allowing only fourth-inning singles to Brandon Hauser and Tyson Brownlee. He struck out 10 and walked two.
Lewis Sebrell was 2-for-2 and hit a three-run home run as the Grizzlies (7-3, 3-1 SSC) took a 7-1 lead with five runs in the fourth. The two-out blast came after an error on an infield grounder. Nick Hall, who reached on the error, and Hayden Miller, who singled, scored ahead of Sebrell.
Garrett Tygerson then doubled and scored on Kendall's single.
Ashland put it away with five runs in the fifth.
Garrett Davis scored the run for the Eagles (5-7, 2-2) in the first on a walk, an error and two stolen bases.

SHELDON 10, GRANTS PASS 1 — At Grants Pass, Grants Pass could only muster up three hits and one run in dropping the Southwest Conference opener.
Landon Frost was 2-for-3 with a double for Sheldon, who got six strong innings from pitcher Zach Kayser.
Brandon Drury had a double to pace the Cavemen (1-12, 0-1 SWC).

HIDDEN VALLEY 20, NORTH VALLEY 1, 5 inn. — At Merlin, Hidden Valley junior Taylor Bars went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple to lead the Mustangs to the Skyline Conference win.
Bars also earned the win on the mound for Hidden Valley (11-3, 3-0 Skyline) striking out seven and allowing only three hits in five innings.
Sophomore Cody Albertson blasted a grand slam in the fourth for the Mustangs.

Myers was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and also earned his first win of the season on the mound. Josh Sutfin was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Loggers, who previously lost to Phoenix JV by scores of 17-1 and 14-4.
