  • When Abraham Harris and Steven Jaramillo moved to the Rogue Valley in 2002, they saw an immediate demand for organic agriculture products.
"We wanted to create an eco-living lifestyle center — taking the philosophy of caring for the air, soil and water, and moving it into lifestyle, including indoor quality," says Harris.
The pair formed Phoenix Organics, located at 4543 S. Pacific Highway in Phoenix. They originally sold a variety of organic fertilizers and farm and garden products. They later added certified organic compost in bulk — currently their best-selling item. Through their sister company, Rising Phoenix Biofuels, they host the only retail location in the Rogue Valley for (B-99) biodiesel.
To meet the demand for healthy indoor spaces, they also started carrying nontoxic, sustainable building supplies, including paints, flooring, roofing, cabinets and cleaning supplies.
The most recent addition to their product line is the organic mattress, targeted toward people sensitive to formaldehyde and other chemicals used in conventional mattresses.
Phoenix Organics is about to open their two-acre backyard to the public for workshops and seminars and just plain fun. The new area will have an "edible landscape permaculture fruit forest."
