First Friday

"Monkey and Butterfly" and other oil paintings by Nicole Etienne Powell will be featured during August at Etienne Gallery in Ashland.

Luscious oil paintings by Nicole Etienne Powell, bas relief collage and graphite drawings by Jan Schmitz, ceramic sculpture by Susan Springer and Penelope Dews and various works by Marie Maretska, Virginia Andrade and Jim Robinson will be showcased during the First Friday art walk in Ashland's downtown and railroad district.

The art walk will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., and visitors can look for many other new exhibits at participating galleries, along with wine-tasting and live music.

Powell is an international artist who is based in New York City and has had shows at Origins Galleries in Dublin, Ireland, and at Eden Rock Gallery in St. Barts in the French West Indies.
