When your pup is a regular member of the family, you want to treat him to the best. Several Rogue Valley businesses understand that sentiment.
For instance, you wouldn't leave your child home alone while you go to work or on vacation, right? You'd find the best day care available, and that's what many pet owners do, as well.

"It's just like day care for kids, except it's for dogs," says Vicki Bamman, owner and operator of Miss Molly's Pet Services in Ashland, which also offers overnight care. Miss Molly's offers long leash walks and outings. There're lots of plush cuddly toys, a wading pool for hot days, a day bed in the TV lounge for couch-potato pups and harp music at naptime.
Need to get Fido to a grooming or vet appointment, but just can't break away from work? Miss Molly's Pet Taxi (a bright-yellow Volkswagen Beetle with a barking horn) offers transportation in Southern Oregon, with plenty of room for even very big dogs.
At 6 p.m., when most people are finishing supper and settling in for the evening, things are still hopping and barking at R&R Pet Resort and Spa in Phoenix. This one-stop shop provides multiple services, including professional grooming and clipping, do-it-yourself baths, obedience and agility classes, day kennels, long-term boarding and even massage.
Located at the end of a country lane and surrounded by pear orchards, R&R contains indoor and outdoor facilities so dogs can exercise in secure, supervised areas.
"The dogs are grouped according to size, level of energy and personalities," explains Sue Ross, who with her husband, Tom, owns the resort and spa. "Our goal is for the dogs to have fun and play and get tired."
It's stressful enough for dogs to be away from their families and homes, so Ross and staff do everything they can to keep their guests comfortable, exercised and entertained.
At Celebrity Grooming in White City, your pup is a star. Show groomers are available by appointment seven days a week, ready to give your dog the same professional care available to Hollywood's canine celebrities.
There are also do-it-yourself, hip-high tubs, specially made to save your back. It's just the place to learn how to give your dog a bath.
"We walk you through it and give you a hand," says owner Sandy Dittmer. "What brushes to use and how to use them, choosing the right shampoo for your dog and how to reduce hair in the house."
Bones & Biscuits Bakery is right on site at Celebrity Grooming, with treats your pooch won't be able to resist, including carob truffles, cakes and the best-selling big bones made with cinnamon or cheese and garlic.
"We bake them ourselves, and we know every single ingredient," Dittmer says. "They're baked with love."
