A federal report says that parts from a helicopter that crashed in Northern California last year, killing nine people, have mysteriously disappeared.
Seven Southern Oregon firefighters died in the wreck.
The report based on a National Transportation Safety Board probe says it isn't clear whether the parts were lost or taken. The parts were related to the helicopters' fuel control units.
But Wednesday's report says that their loss shouldn't interfere with the board's ability to determine the probable cause of the accident.
The helicopter crashed shortly after taking off on Aug. 5, 2008, on its third trip of the day carrying firefighters away from a fire in the Trinity Alps Wilderness near Weaverville.
