Wreck south of Grants Pass kills man

A Grants Pass-area man died Wednesday afternoon when the vehicle he was driving struck a tree and overturned south of Grants Pass.

Steven Louis Florea, 42, had just turned from Highway 199 near Wilderville onto Highway 260, also known as Riverbanks Road, at 4:47 p.m., when his car ran off the road and hit a tree, rolling onto its top, police said in a news release.

Florea, who was pinned in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 260 was closed intermittently for approximately two hours while rescue crews and tow trucks worked at the scene, police said.

An investigation is continuing.
