Fire burns Prospect residence

A fire of an unknown cause Sunday destroyed a one-story home in Prospect, displacing a family of five, said Prospect Fire Chief Bob Bat.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at about 4:30 p.m. at 17 First St., Bat said.

"Everyone was able to get out; no one was hurt," he said.

Fourteen Prospect and Shady Cove firefighters, four fire engines and two water tenders responded to the scene, putting out the flames by about 7:30 p.m., Bat said.

Crews continued mopping up the fire until late Sunday. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is under way.
