Ashland commentator and author Jeff Golden heads to Shady Cove's library Nov. 11 to talk about the media and democracy.
His talk, the first of three programs in a series set in coming months at the library, is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Shady Cove Branch Library, 22477 Highway 62, Shady Cove. It's free.
Golden will talk about failings of contemporary mass media news, consumers' responsibility, opportunities for improvement and common ground.
The talk is the first of three programs to be hosted by the Shady Cove Branch Library this winter for The Conversation Project: A New Chautauqua. This statewide program, sponsored by Oregon Humanities, engages community members in conversations about ideas.
