Prowl around for some frightful fun

Put your spooky face on and head out for some fun. We've got a complete list of Halloween activities at www.mailtribune.com/octoberevents, but here's the quick list of places to parade, party and gather treats:

Trick or treat alternatives

— YMCA trunk or treat, 6 to 8 p.m., Rogue Valley YMCA, 522 W. Sixth St., Medford. Kids can go from car to car in Y parking lot and collect candy. It's free.

— Rogue Valley Mall trick or treat, 6 to 8 p.m., Rogue Valley Mall, 1800 N. Riverside Ave., Medford. Kids can go to participating merchants to collect candy. It's free.

— Eagle Point Community Bible Church trunk or treat, 5 to 8 p.m., Eagle Point Community Bible Church, 27 S. Shasta Ave., Eagle Point. Kids can go car to car to collect candy and take part in other activities. It's free.

— Medford First Christian Church trick or treating, 5 to 7 p.m. Medford First Christian Church, 1900 Crater Lake Ave., Medford. Kids can trick or treat inside. It's free.

Haunted houses

— Creepy Carnival, 3:30 to 6 p.m., Ashland Elks Lodge, 255 E. Main St., Ashland. Cost: $2.

— Prospect Community Hall haunted house, 5 to 9 p.m., Prospect Community Hall, 305 Red Blanket Road, Prospect. Cost: $3. Details: www.prospectcommunity.org.

— Joy Christian Fellowship, 6 to 8 p.m., Joy Christian Fellowship, 2715 Table Road Road, Medford. Cost: $2. Details: spookyschool.wordpress.com.

— Darkwing Manor, 6 to 9:30 p.m., 4192 Coleman Creek Road, Phoenix. This is a fundraiser for the Children's Advocacy Center of Medford. It's not recommended for children under 8. Suggested donation: $5. Details: http://www.darkwing-manor.com/.

— Dr. Maximillion's Museum of Un-Natural History Haunted Museum, 6 to 11 p.m., Jacksonville Museum, corner Fifth and C streets, Jacksonville: This is a fundraiser for an acting group and the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Cost: $6 for adults, $3 for children (under 42 inches). Details: http://www.sohs.org.

— Gold Hill Museum, 6 to 9 p.m., Gold Hill Museum, 504 First St., Gold Hill. This is a fundraiser for the Gold Hill Historical Society. Cost: $3 for teens and adults, $2 for kids 6-12, free for kids 5 and younger.

— Haunted Hay Ride at "Camp Chopemup," 6:30 to 11 p.m., 1650 China Gulch Road, Ruch. The haunted hay ride follows a route through an old mining camp. Cost: $3 for 6 and older. Details: http://www.hauntedoregon.com/.

— Fields of Terror Haunted Hay Ride and Corn Maze, 6:30 to 10 p.m., Pheasant Fields Farm, 1865 Camp Baker Road, Phoenix. This is not recommended for children younger than 12. Cost: $3 for hay ride, $5 for corn maze.

— Circus of Screams haunted house, 6:30 to 9 p.m., 9512 Highway 62, Eagle Point. This is a fundraiser for Eagle Point and Rogue River wrestling teams. It' suggested for fright fans 8 and older. Cost: $7, or $5 plus a can of food for charity. Details: www.circusofscreams.net.

Pumpkin patches/harvest festivals (some activities come with a fee)

— Seven Oaks Farm, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 5504 Highway 99, Central Point, pumpkins and activities.

— The Farm, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 51 S. Stage Road, Medford, pumpkins, petting farm, pony rides, pumpkin slingshot, kids' carnival games.

— Pheasant Fields Farm, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1865 Camp Baker Road, Phoenix, pumpkins, horse drawn hay rides, two-acre corn maze, shooting gallery, face painting, crafts, toddler tent, live music and trick or treating at each station.

— Hanley Farm, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1053 Hanley Road, Central Point, pumpkins, wagon rides, picnicking.

— White's Country Farm Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. White's Store, 3939 W. Main St., Medford, pumpkins, five-acre corn maze, pony rides, face painting, rock climbing, a 65-foot inflatable dragon and hoop shoot.

— Applegate Valley Ranch, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 13100 N. Applegate Road, Grants Pass, pumpkins, hayride, corn maze and pumpkin slingshots.

Parties

— Ashland Family YMCA, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Ashland Family YMCA, 520 YMCA Way, Ashland. Little goblins and their families are invited to enjoy carnival games, great costumes, face painting, a monster maze and more. Cost: $1 per child accompanied by an adult.

— Community party at Anna Maria Creekside, 3 to 4 p.m., Anna Maria Creekside retirement residences, 822 Golf View Drive, Medford. The party will feature games, prizes and goodies. It's free.

— Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library "Come As You Are" party, 5 to 8 p.m., Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library, 258 A St., Ashland. Free refreshments and treats are planned. It's free.

— Michael Jackson Tribute Contest, 10 p.m., Rogue Regency Inn & Suites, 2300 Biddle Road, Medford. Karaoke, dance tunes, music trivia, plus a costume contest and the Michael Jackson Tribute Contest are planned. Must be 21 or older. Admission is free.

Other events

— Monster Dash Halloween Fun Run, 2 p.m., Lithia Park and downtown Ashland. The one-mile and 5-kilometer fun runs/walks organized by the Kiwanis Club of Ashland are a benefit for the Ashland Schools Foundation. Details: www.ashlandkiwanismonsterdash.com.

— Ashland Halloween storytime, 2:30 to 3:15 p.m., Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. The storytime will feature not-too-scary Halloween books, rhymes and songs and will wrap up in time for the Halloween parade. It's free.

— Ashland parade, 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., library to plaza, Ashland. Anyone can put on a costume and take part in the parade, and downtown merchants will hand out candy during the event. It's free.

— Medford downtown celebration, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., in and around Vogel Plaza at Main and Central streets in Medford. Costume contest, candy from merchants, face painting and pumpkin decorating at Rogue Community College and fire dancing at Vogel Plaza. It's free.
