America’s declining engagement in civic associations is the subject of an upcoming talk at Southern Oregon University.
The talk is from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Meese Meeting Room at Hannon Library at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. It’s free and open to the public. Audience members can bring a lunch to eat.
The discussion will be moderated by Prakash Chenjeri, associate professor of philosophy, and Daniel Morris, professor of French, with guest Dennis Dunleavey, associate professor in communication.
The talk is part of the university’s Tocqueville Imagining America Series. Alexis de Tocqueville was a French author who wrote “Democracy in America,” which observed that the involvement of American citizens in civic associations was critical to the American form of democracy.
