A Southern Oregon University criminology professor has received her second consecutive award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Science.
Alison Burke, an assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice, received this year's SAGE Junior Faculty Professional Development Teaching Award. She teaches courses on juvenile delinquency and crime control theories and policies at SOU.
Last year, the organization recognized Burke for her research.
Burke joined the criminology department at SOU in 2008. She earned a doctorate in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has worked with juvenile offenders in medium security treatment facilities and group homes in Colorado. Her areas of interest and expertise include juvenile justice, gender and crime, criminological theory, and environmental crime.
Burke will receive her award at the national ACJS meeting in March.
