The Medford Railroad Park will open Sunday, April 11. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of each month through October.
The park is maintained and operated by volunteers and is home to five clubs: the Southern Oregon Live Steamers, the Southern Oregon Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, the Southwest Oregon Large Scale Trains, the Rogue Valley Model Railroad Club and the Morse Telegraph Club.
Park visitors can ride steam locomotives, handcars and motor cars, see displays of historical railroad equipment, tour the interiors of restored railroad cars, visit the park's new garden railway, operate model trains and send messages using an antique telegraph system.
New plans this season for the park include a covered passenger area, an interpretive blacksmith shop and a home for International Morse Code.
Admission to the park is free, but donations to the clubs and organizations are accepted. The Railroad Park is adjacent to Fire Station No. 4 at the intersection of Table Rock Road and Berrydale Avenue, near the Rogue Valley Mall.
