  • Medford night club hosts drag queen shows on Sundays

  • I've heard rumors there is a drag queen show somewhere in Medford. Do you know if this is true? If so, when and where is it held? My friends and I go to Portland once a year to the drag queen shows up there and we always have a lot of fun. I'm really hoping there is one here.

To quote Magenta of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" fame: "I'm lucky, he's lucky, we're all lucky!"
Lucky because Medford does have a weekly drag show hosted by the El Marinero Night Club in downtown Medford, just across Main Street from The Office.
"The drag queen shows are coming back starting every Sunday," said El Marinero manager Ivan Orozco.
In the early days, the show was seen only by a handful of people, but it has grown in size with each week.
"At first we had about 10 people at a show watching," Orozco said. "And now it's gotten really popular."
The queens usually imitate a single artist's work during a show. This week they will perform "Telephone" by Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
"We usually have back-up dancers and everything," Orozco said. "We also are going to do Rihanna songs."
The show starts between 11 and 11:30 p.m. and rolls for about an hour. Afterward, the club hosts a DJ, Orozco said.
"We have a good group of drag queens living here in Medford," he said. "They love doing the show."
There is a $5 cover charge at the door.
The queens have taken their act to other bars in the area and are available for bachelor parties, Orozco said.
