The eighth annual World of Wine Festival
WoW is planned for 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Del Rio Vineyards & Winery, 52 N. River Road, Gold Hill.

WOW features live music, wine tasting and gourmet food. A professional competition that bestows gold and silver medals, as well as best-of-show honors, boasts a judging panel of industry experts. Tickets are $75.

A portion of proceeds are awarded as scholarships to viticulture and enology students at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg. WOW is cosponsored by Rogue Valley Winegrowers Association and Southern Oregon Wineries Association.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.worldofwinefestival.com, at Del Rio (541-855-2062), Elegance Fine Wines of Grants Pass (541-476-0570), Pacific Wine Club of Medford (541-245-3334), RoxyAnn Winery of Medford (541-776-2315) and Schmidt Family Vineyards of Grants Pass (541- 846-9985).

The Williams couple's Plaisance Ranch numbers among a dozen labels new to this year's World of Wine Festival at Del Rio Vineyards & Winery. Plaisance could be just another face in the crowd if it wasn't for the Ginets' determination through WOW to showcase the region's grape-growing and winemaking potential.
