  • Clayton Lee Hatmaker, 91, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2011, in his home. He was born in Lake City, Tenn., on November 13, 1919.
    Clay served six years in the Navy, and part of his service was on the USS Saratoga CV-3 carrier in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked for 41 years for Safeway Stores, Inc, as a line driver in the San Francisco division. Clay and Marge retired from the Bay Area to Southern Oregon in 1988. He was a dedicated member of the Blue Lodge (50 years), Scottish Rite (50 years), and the Shriners (50 years). Clay was committed to supporting the Shriner's Hospital for Children and other community charities.
    Clay is survived by his wife of 36 years, Margaret Hatmaker; son, Robert Michael Hatmaker, of Davis, Okla.; daughter, Louise Tuley, of Henny Penny, Okla.; and granddaughter, Christine Elliot, of San Francisco, Calif.
    A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 16, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at the Medford Masonic Lodge, 975 N. Phoenix Rd. He was loved by many and will be missed. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Shriner's Transportation or General Funds.
