  • Ronnie Dale Coffman, age 64, went home to be with the Lord, on May 17, 2011, from his home in Central Point, Ore. He was born October 14, 1946, in Porterville, Calif.
He is survived by wife, Adelia (Dee) Coffman; his children, Natalie Tyre, 45, Lisa Fraga, 43, Steven Coffman, 42, and Matthew Coffman, 17; eight grandchildren. His parents, William Sherman Coffman and Lela Gertrude Petty; as well as his beloved stepfather, the Rev. Ralph E. Sinner, have already gone on to be with the Lord.
Where to start about this man I was married to for 30 years. I would say that he was and is the best person I have ever known. Ron loved the Lord. Before his accident, Ron was always whistling, talking with everyone, and was known for his mischievous grin. He was a brilliant thinker and creative on every level. He was a man with a heart for kids that was so big, it would bring tears to your eyes. Ron loved the freedom that flying brought to him. On that fateful day seven years and seven months ago, a crash in his T28, changed his life forever. From his wheelchair not able to walk or talk he touched and changed lives every single day. After his accident, he would play the crane machines and win animals at the local restaurants every day. So many people have stories about the animals that Ron gave them. He loved people, and he loved life.
Now he is flying all the time. He is greatly loved and greatly missed. There will be a celebration of his life on June 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the hangar at Medford Air Service, 4002 Cirrus Drive, Medford, OR. Please come if you knew Ron. We would like to receive any thoughts or stories that you have about him. There will be sheets to write on at the service or feel free to bring something already written. Memorial contributions can be made to Youth For Christ, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 112, Medford, OR 97504.
