Marjorie VanBuskirk

Marjorie (Marge) VanBuskirk passed from this life on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at her home in Medford, Ore. Marge was born Marjorie Lorraine Victor on April 21, 1931, in Oakland, Calif., to Peter Victor, Jr., and Lorranie C. Napp. She attended schools in Oakland. She married Theodore L. Elliott on November 19, 1950, in Oakland. On June 15, 1973, she married Carl Allen VanBuskirk who survives.


She was a long-time supporter of the Musculare Dystrophy Association. She was a volunteer for many years at the Ashland Teen Center, and she and Allen were a volunteer host family for several foreign exchange students. She won the KTVL Community Service award for her volunteer work.


Marge was proud of her Hawaiian heritage and exemplified its spirit of Aloha in that her home was always open to family and friends, and was always graciously warm and welcoming.

Marge is survived by her siblings, Donald Victor, of Sebastapol, Calif., and Judi Ragsdale, of Lafayette, Calif.; her children, Scott Elliott, of Phoenix, Ore.; Laura Brumble and Jeffrey Elliott, of Medford, Ore.; Thomas Elliott, of Jacksonville, Ore., and Andrea Watson, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 step-daughters and their families.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at her home, 4170 Cedar Lane, Medrford, at 5:00 p.m, August 6, 2011. All of her friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the American Cancer Society.
