  • A locally owned fish-and-chips shack has hooked customers to land the title of Best Seafood restaurant for the second year running.
    The Wharf Fresh Seafood Market & Eatery, owned by Brent Kenyon, handily bested chain-restaurant competitors in Medford.
    After selling crab out of the back of his truck, Kenyon established The Wharf — with help from parents Nancy and Weburn — four years ago in a bright blue bungalow at 827 W. Jackson St.
    The restaurant also doubles as a fish market with about a dozen types of fish and seafood for sale daily. During Oregon's Dungeness crab season, live crustaceans are in stock.
    "I've got a lot of connections for seafood," says Kenyon. "People know fish; they're not stupid."
    Fish tacos and lobster rolls number among the lunch selections, along with eight variations on fish and chips. Dinner features shrimp scampi, king crab legs and surf and turf.
    Other favorites: McGrath's Fish House and Red Lobster, both of Medford.
