With 80 percent of its business coming from repeat customers or referrals, there's little reason to wonder why Noah's River Adventures has won top river-guide honors among Mail Tribune readers three of the past four years.

The business has been around since 1974, with a stable of experienced guides who take customers on whitewater trips in Southern Oregon and Northern California.

Noah's has 10 or 11 full-time guides and another half-dozen river-runners working on peak days along whitewater favorites such as the Rogue and Klamath rivers.

During the summer, it also gets a lot of drop-in customers at its kiosk in Ashland's Plaza.

Often they are Oregon Shakespeare Festival attendees in search of something to do during a hot August day before the evening show.

Noah's is at 53 N. Main St., Ashland.
