  • An active participant in the recent "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" project in Medford, contractor Shane Caster says he's always had a knack for working with his hands.
Caster, who has lived in the Rogue Valley since he was a child, spent about five years working under other local contractors before striking out on his own three years ago.
The Central Point remodeling and repair guru says that with the economy in a funk, he does everything from remodeling projects to basic construction and handyman work. He recently put some finishing touches on the new Oh's Osaka building in downtown Medford.
Caster credits his team's customer-service standards as the likely reason for his Readers' Choice recognition.
"The biggest thing we do is we work with the clients to try and make anything and everything work," he says.
"Whether it's their budget or trying to get an idea that they really want done, we just really try to strive for the best customer service we can give."
