For the fifth year in a row Mail Tribune readers have chosen RoxyAnn Winery, 3285 Hillcrest Road, Medford, as the home of the best local wine.
RoxyAnn Winery, which won Best of Show for its Tempranillo at this year's World of Wine and Best of Show for its Syrah at Greatest of the Grape, has developed a sizable following, with 1,200 people in its wine club and thousands more who enjoy its wines independently.
Tasting-room manager Brenda Walden Pine attributes the winery's success in part to local events held weekly, such as the Friday Farmer's Market and live music from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Friday.
"It's kind of like the show 'Cheers'; it's like everyone knows your name," says Pine. "The locals have embraced that. The whole concept is that you can go to the winery and go by yourself; you'll know people there — they've kind of become a family to us."
