Many locals and out-of-towners come to Food 4 Less because it offers low prices and high-quality groceries. The store also has one of the best organic and natural-foods sections you'll find in a grocery store, with a good selection of bulk foods and gluten-free products.
Sherm and Wanda Olsrud have been in the grocery business for about 50 years, starting out with a meat market in Eugene in 1956, which they operated until 1961. After selling a 24-hour market in Eugene in 1967, they opened Sherm's Thunderbird on West Main Street.
The Olsrud family, which includes Steve Olsrud, has been active in supporting many local activities, including baseball, football, basketball, 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
Food 4 Less is at 2230 Biddle Road, and Sherm's Thunderbird is at 2347 W. Main St. There are also stores in Roseburg and Klamath Falls.
Other favorites: Fred Meyer and WinCo Foods.
