    Summit dominates District 1 championships

  • BEND — Summit dominated the Class 5A District 1 cross country championships on Friday, placing the top four finishers in both the boys' and girls' races.

  • BEND — Summit dominated the Class 5A District 1 cross country championships on Friday, placing the top four finishers in both the boys' and girls' races.
    Juniors Travis Neuman, Eric Alldritt and Luke Hinz placed first through third, respectively in the boys' race, with Neuman winning in 15 minutes, 20.4 seconds. On the girls' side seniors Megan Fristoe placed first in 17:39.6 and Ashley Maton second in 17:57.1.
    Two local runners qualified for state: Ashland senior Sam Jackson placed seventh in the boys' race in 16:25.7, and Dana Greenblatt finished eighth in the girls' race in 19:13.7.
    The Summit boys had just 18 team points to easily best second-place Mountain View (41), while the Summit girls were even more dominant, finishing with 16 team points to second-place Bend's 58.
