A suspect in an early-morning shooting in Central Point is dead after a high-speed crash on Old Stage Road, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports.

At about 4 a.m. today, a 9-1-1 call reported a possible stabbing near the intersection of Circle Wood Drive and Beall Lane in Central Point. When officers arrived, they found an Isuzu Rodeo with its driver's side window shattered by a gunshot. Inside was a man with a gunshot wound to the face and a woman with injuries that officials said weren't gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to a Portland hospital, while the woman was taken to a local hospital.

Later, Oregon State Police spotted what investigators determined was a suspect vehicle in the 8000 block of Old Stage Road. Officers gave chase and the speeding vehicle veered off the road down a steep embankment along a driveway.

One man inside the vehicle was killed. Two other suspects, also male, were taken into custody and to a local hospital for treatment, sheriff's spokeswoman Andrea Carlson said.

No names or ages have been released yet.

Police tape encircled the Isuzu in Central Point this morning and swarms of officers are investigating at the crash site where the chase ended.
