  • Josephine County Commissioner Sandi Cassanelli was voted out of office in a Tuesday recall election. Voters overwhelmingly were against the first-term commissioner, with more than 70 percent voting to oust her.
    In unofficial results, 71 percent voted to recall Cassanelli and 29 percent voted against. Unofficial totals showed 13,293 votes in favor of recall and 5,432 opposed.
    According to the Grants Pass Daily Courier, Cassanelli's final day in office should be sometime in the next few weeks, when the special election results become official, which is expected by Dec. 19.
    The two remaining commissioners — Simon Hare and Don Reedy — will choose a replacement commissioner to serve the remaining year of Cassanelli's term.
    Turnout for Tuesday's special election was 38 percent.
