Last day to enter bird photo contest

Online voting begins today at 5 p.m.

The deadline for entering the 2011 Oregon Outdoors Wild Bird Photo Contest is 5 p.m. today, and then the voting begins.

As of Thursday, 252 photos had been uploaded to our contest website at To enter, go to the website, fill out a registration form and follow the directions to upload your photos. You can enter up to three pictures.

After 5 p.m., readers can go to the website and vote up to three times for their favorite photos. Voting ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16. Reader votes will count for 25 percent of the total score, which will be added to the scores from our panel of five expert judges. The winning photos will be published in Oregon Outdoors Friday, Dec. 23.

Grand prize is a pair of Pro Master Binoculars, EL 10 x 42, valued at $299, from Total Camera and Video, 1310 A Center Drive, Medford.

First place is a pair of Eagle Optics Denali 8 x 42 Roof Prism Binoculars, valued at $229, from Wild Birds Unlimited, 712 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.

Second place is a $100 gift certificate from Grange Co-op.

Third place receives a pair of Bushnell 8 x 42 binoculars, valued at $79, from Black Bird Shopping Center, 1810 W. Main St., Medford.

Fourth place takes home a Patriot bird feeder and 20-pound bag of bird seed, valued at $36, from Black Bird Shopping Center.
