    Gomez netted six goals and assisted on another as the Comets gradually pulled away for an 8-4 victory over South Medford in Southern League action.
    Crater and South Medford skated to a 3-all tie through the first period but three second-period goals allowed the Comets to build a 6-4 advantage heading into the final period.
    J.R. Keyser got the scoring going for Crater (4-0) on an unassisted goal, then Gomez rattled off four goals before Ali Havice broke his string with the team's final goal in the second period. Gomez picked up where he left off with two goals in the third period to ice the Panthers (3-1), who were playing without team leader Brandon Punsuk.
    Thomas Gamble had two assists for the Comets, who also got one assist each from Keyser and Dustin Gomez.
    Ryan Lund poured in a pair of first-period goals off assists by Cy Jenson to boost South Medford, with Jenson scoring the third goal of the period on an assist from Taylor Rose. Rose scored his own goal in the second period on an assist by Steven Weber, but the Panthers failed to find the net for the remainder of the match.
    Alec Looman had 23 saves for Crater and Johnny Lines made 17 saves for South Medford.

    ROGUE RIVER 65, GOLD BEACH 60 — At Gold Beach, Ben McBee scored 24 points, Andy Valencia added 17 and Rogue River held off a furious comeback attempt to pick up its second win in a row after starting the season with four straight losses.
    The Chieftains went on a nine-point run to take a 17-point lead early in the third quarter, but Gold Beach (3-2) stormed back behind Garrett Litterell's 30 points to tie the game at 57.
    Valencia also had eight rebounds for the Chieftains, while Shawn Donahue contributed eight points and six boards.
