KLAMATH FALLS — Freshman goalkeeper Calvinn Casaday made 12 saves in a scoreless third period to preserve the lead as North Medford defeated the Klamath Ice Hawks 2-1 in Southern League prep ice hockey at Bill Collier Community Ice Arena Friday.
The Black Tornado had to play much of the final stanza shorthanded and Klamath had a 5-on-3 for at least two minutes in the period.
Casaday finished with 22 saves.
Dylan Wu scored a goal and had an assist for North
Wu scored unassisted with 2:56 left in the first period.
Jerod Yewchuk's goal tied the game for the Ice Hawks with 10:10 remaining in the second. Zach Lillman tallied the game-winner for North off a Wu assist with just under two minutes to go in regulation.
