Southern Oregon has been home to many prominent wrestling duals over the years, mostly thanks to the history of programs like Crater, Eagle Point...
Renee Murphy and the Crater softball team handed hot Eagle Point its first loss of the year, rolling to a 14-0 win at U.S. Cellular Community Park on Wednesday.
The nonconference contest began on Tuesday, but was postponed in the first inning due to rain.
Murphy helped lead the charge in the win, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a single, double, triple, three runs and an RBI. The pitcher combined with Lauren Estremado and Alex Sheperd on a one-hitter, recording five strikeouts in three innings of relief work against the Eagles (6-1).
Rachel Ray was 3-for-5 with three runs and Haley Fox went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs for the Comets (2-6), who closed out the game with a five-run seventh. Katie Britton supplied a solo home run to highlight the frame.
