  • ROSEBURG — In a battle of two of the Southern Oregon Hybrid's top baseball teams, North Medford couldn't generate much offense with Jared Priestley on the mound for Roseburg Monday.
    Priestley threw a two-hitter en route to the Indians' 10-0 victory in five innings.
    Taylor Raff had a game-opening single for North Medford (8-2, 3-2 SOH), and one out later, Micah Brown singled. But that was all the offense the Black Tornado would come up with.
    Priestley threw only 58 pitches and didn't go to three balls on any hitter. He struck out three.
    Roseburg (9-1, 2-0 SOH) broke it open with six runs in the second inning. The Indians loaded the bases for Cody Matthews, who hit a two-run single. Two outs later, the Indians hit three consecutive singles.
    Connor Newell went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

    GRANTS PASS 5, SOUTH MEDFORD 1 — Numerous miscues doomed South Medford in the Southern Oregon Hybrid loss at Harry & David Field.
    The Panthers (2-8, 0-4 SOH) yielded two unearned runs in the third inning as the Cavemen didn't get a hit. They took a 2-0 lead on two errors, two hit batters and a walk.
    The Panthers' lone run came in the bottom of the third on Austin Reames' RBI single that plated Ryan Johnson, who hit a one-out triple.
    South's Nate Namanny went the distance, with three hits, three walks, four hit batters to go with eight strikeouts. The Panthers committed three errors.
    Josh Robinson of Grants Pass (4-5, 1-3 SOH) pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk.

    GRANTS PASS INVITATIONAL — At Grants Pass, guided by Joey Walker, North Medford landed in a tie for third place at the nine-team Grants Pass Invitational at Grants Pass Golf Club.
    Both North Medford and Roseburg scored 333, finishing behind Sheldon (326) and South Eugene (327).
    Walker's 7-over-par 79, tied him with South Eugene's Jacob Henderson for the seventh lowest score on the afternoon.
    South Medford's Noah Brooks shot 81.
    Ashland's Matt Hedges was runner-up with a 74. Thurston's Mitchell Stewart shot a 71.
