  • The Cascade Christian baseball team took advantage of errors and walks by Illinois Valley in a 7-2 win at U.S. Cellular Community Park on Tuesday.
    Luke Dusenbury was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Challengers, who pulled away with a four-run second inning in the Southern Cascade Hybrid opener.
    Dusenbury hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning to score Josh Brite, who led things off with a single.
    Fred Hults was 2-for-4 with an RBI and one run for the Cougars (4-5, 0-1 SCH), who committed three errors against Cascade Christian (9-5, 1-0 SCH).

    LAKEVIEW 7, ST. MARY'S 4 — At Lakeview, Lakeview scored four third-inning runs en route to the Southern Cascade Hybrid-opening win.
    For St. Mary's (2-3), Daniel Seus was 3-for-4 with two runs and Ryan Ross was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

    ROSEBURG 13, EAGLE POINT 3, 5 inn. — At Roseburg, Roseburg pitcher Mike Morin was perfect through four innings and allowed one hit in five innings of the nonconference game. He had six strikeouts and a walk.
    Kody Matthews and Josh Graham were each 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Indians (13-1), and Jared Priestley was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
    Evan Jolliffe had the lone hit for Eagle Point (4-12), singling to start the fifth, but he was thrown out trying to steal second base.

    GRANTS PASS 5, ASHLAND 3 — At Ashland, Grants Pass reliever Matt Cole escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh as the Cavemen capitalized on some defensive miscues in a nonconference game at North Mountain Park.
    Cole walked Taylor Humphrey and gave up a single to Evan Westhelle to load the bases with one out in the Grizzlies' half of the seventh, but No. 3 hitter Ethan Schlecht and cleanup hitter Billy Hansen both popped out to infielders to end the threat.
    Westhelle was 2-for-4 for the Grizzlies (6-6), while Schlecht held the Cavemen to one earned run on seven hits and struck out five in six innings.
    For Grants Pass (6-8), Cole was 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run and one RBI.

    Tyler Gulbransen was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs and Jamie Schmidt and Mike Hults each added two hits for the Mustangs (7-0, 4-0 Sky).
    Phoenix dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in league play.

    KLAMATH UNION 6, NORTH VALLEY 5 — At Klamath Falls, Mark Owings hit the go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning and Kody Kuhlman recorded a strikeout with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh for Klamath Union in Skyline Conference play.
    Owings had two hits and three RBIs and Joe Whisler had two hits for the Pelicans (9-3, 4-0 Sky).
    Marco Garmendia had two hits and two RBIs for North Valley (9-3, 2-2).
