Graduates and Honors

Officers Christopher Moore, Elizabeth Muck and Michael Smelser of the Medford Police Department were among the graduates of the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Basic Police Class.

The graduates were honored at a ceremony on April 20 at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem.

The Basic Police Class is 16 weeks long and includes dozens of training areas, such as survival skills, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, ethics, cultural diversity, problem solving, elder abuse, drug recognition and other subjects.

Krista Ann Mak of Medford completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Washington State University for the fall 2011 semester.

Schuyler Kline of Medford was named to Syracuse University's fall 2011 dean's list for the College of Arts and Sciences in Syracuse, N.Y.

The following students were named students of the month for April by the Gold Hill City Council:

Morgan Anderson, Parents: Timothy and Colleen Anderson

Katelyn Bender, Parents: Joe and Teresa Bender
