William A. Boyd, 64, of Medford, Ore., passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at home in his sleep. He was born February 12, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., to Malvin Andrew Boyd, of Bauge, Norway and Harriet Phyllis Harigan, of Waterloo, Iowa. He married Lynda Susan Rice on July 25, 1987, in Myrtle Creek, Ore.
His hobbies included sharing his faith in God, woodworking, riding his motorcycle, reading, movies, attending the annual Bridge School Concert with Neil and Peggy Young, with his life-long friends, Fred and Pat Gustafson, and traveling. His favorite pastime was just hanging out with Lynda wherever they happened to be.
William also served as national president, Rogue Valley Chapter president of the Sons of Thunder Christian Motorcycle Club; life member and past vice-commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart chapter 147; and he was co-founder of the Reunited and Restored Fellowship "biker church" in Gold Hill, Ore.
He served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry from January 1968 to December 1969. He was the recipient of two Army Commendation Medals, a Vietnamese Gallentry Cross, a Purple Heart, as well as other medals and honors.
Survivors include wife, Lynda Boyd, of Medford, Ore.; children, Leif and Jovanna Boyd, of Roseville, Calif., Sabrina and Nathan Zink, of Samoa, Calif., Anthony Boyd and Kyra Skinner, of Medford, Ore.; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Joseph Kuharik, of Vida, Ore., and their children, Anthony and Ann Quesada of Vida, Ore., and Joseph and Anne Kuharik of Linden, Calif.; Lynda's siblings, Andy Rice, of Ashland, Ore., Sharon Salamant, of Sautee-Nacoochee, Ga., and her children, Walter and Fang Salamant, of Ohio, and Mark Salamant, of Pennsylvania; Cathy and Barry Stiles, of Rabun Gap, Ga.; Carol Rice, of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Kelton, Kaius, Aidan, Landen, Alyssa and, Cambria; great nieces and nephews, Lydia, David, Ethan, Madison, and Rylan; and cousin, Phillip Severt, of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by cousin, Bruce Severt, of Chicago,Ill.; uncle, Norris Severt, and aunt Kay Severt, both of Arizona; and both parents.
A military ceremony at the Eagle Point National Cemetery will be held Friday, May 11, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. Anyone who wants to join the motorcycle escort (cars are welcome), meet at Conger-Morris Funeral Home at 767 S. Riverside Ave., Medford, OR at 2 pm. We will leave no later than 2:15 p.m. The ceremony will be short, so anyone who wants to can join the family at Miguel's Mexican Restaurant on Hwy 62 in Eagle Point afterward.
A Celebration of Life at Reinhart Volunteer Park (all-sports park) in Grants Pass, Ore., will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 4:00 p.m., at the Bank of America Shelter. If you can, please bring a dish of any kind to share. All friends of Bill and the family are welcome.

Bill had a wonderful life, except for his time in Vietnam. He had family and so many friends who loved and will miss him greatly. He leaves a huge hole in our tight-knit family, but he is at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
