For the first time in the three years of Athlete of the Week voting, there's a tie for the top spot between Leep, of St. Mary's boys track and field, and Schuler, of North Medford boys golf.
Leep eclipsed 50 seconds in the 400 meters for the first time, winning the Grants Pass Rotary Classic in 49.69 seconds. His time was No. 2 in Class 3A.
Schuler, a sophomore, became the first Black Tornado player to make the state tournament since 2009, tying for fourth place in the Southwest Conference with a two-day score of 153 at Eagle Point.
