SISTERS — Jake Herklotz hit a three-run home run and Stephen Parker pitched well with a painful foot injury to help lift third-seeded North Valley to a 7-3 victory over second-seeded Sisters in the Class 4A baseball state quarterfinals on Saturday.
The Knights are one of three teams from the Skyline Conference, along with Hidden Valley and Henley, that have advanced to the semifinals.
Herklotz's shot in the fourth inning scored Marco Garmendia and Nick Todaro. An inning earlier, Dylan Dupont hit a go-ahead RBI double that drove in Josh Cowell and put North Valley ahead 4-3.
Parker, who had been hampered with a foot cramp, pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks. After allowing three runs (one earned) in the bottom of the first, the junior threw a shutout against the Outlaws (24-4), the Sky-Em League champions.
Herklotz finished 2-for-4 for the Knights (21-5), who next host Ontario (19-7) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
