First Presbyterian youth group holds benefit car wash

The youth group at First Presbyterian Church of Central Point will hold a car wash fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the church, 456 W. Pine St. Call 541-664-1828.

Ashland Zen Center offers beginner's night on June 6

Ashland Zen Center will offer beginner's meditation instruction at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the center, 740 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland.

Participants will learn how to sit zazen for meditation, become familiar with the basic forms of the temple, and will have the opportunity to discuss Zen practice with a priest or senior student.

Beginner's night is offered on a drop-in basis, and no registration is necessary. Attendees should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Meditation cushions, support cushions, benches and chairs will be provided. Cost is a suggested donation of $5 to $10. See
