The Rev. Lorin W. and Lois Myers of Eagle Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 9, 2012. Instead of an anniversary reception, the couple's children will be sending the couple on a cruise to Alaska.
Lorin Myers married Lois Elaine Carney June 9, 1962, in Vancouver, Wash. They have three children: Lois Fenner of Eagle Point, Crystal Myers of Eugene and Mark Myers of Rome, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild due in July.
Lorin and his wife moved to Eagle Point to retire after 44 years in active gospel ministry to be closer to their daughter and family and to be closer to Lois' parents here in the valley. The Myers have served pastorates in Washington, Indiana, California and Oregon. During that time, they directed youth and children's ministries, statewide and local church services, and led several work camps.
They also have been actively involved in community-service organizations. Lorin is volunteer chaplain for Jackson County Fire District No. 3 and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for 2011. Lois has served three of the last four years as chairwoman of the Rogue Valley Women's Connection. The couple are active in the First Nazarene Church of Medford.
The Myers were recently featured in the Upper Rogue Independent newspaper for sharing their June 9 anniversary with Lois' father and stepmother, Roy and Reta Carney. The two couples married in the same town at the same church, with the same minister on the same date. Roy, Lois' father, just turned 94.
